North Lincolnshire Presentation
BHS North Lincolnshire Committee members presented a cheque for £1000 to Cathy Towle, who has completed the 70 Lincolnshire Wolds ‘Lindsey Trail’. The money will assist with the cost of new signage for the route, and was presented at the Robin Hood Game and Country Fair at Newark Show Ground. The Lindsey Trail is a project aimed towards establishment and promotion of a long distance multi-user route of approximately 75 miles around the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Natural Beauty. Use is to be available to all non motorised users including horse and carriage drivers, horse riders, cyclists, and walkers. One of the main aims for its establishment is to enable family members, friends and the physically restricted to safely access together some of Lincolnshire’s finest countryside. The project has been intentionally developed for the benefit of both the local community and visitors to the area; and it is also envisaged that its use will promote local businesses offering food, accommodation and stabling.

Lincolnshire riding school works hard to achieve Clubmark
The British Horse Society and the British Equestrian Federation have welcomed Four Winds Equestrian Centre as the latest riding school to achieve Clubmark accreditation.
Kieron McNab, Assistant Sport Development Officer with the Lincolnshire South East School Sport Partnership commented: “I am delighted that Four Winds Equestrian Centre has achieved Clubmark status. The Equestrian Centre has been really proactive with the local community, particularly with school children, and I am pleased they have got the recognition they deserve for their excellent work.
“Part of my role as Assistant Sport Development Officer is to assist clubs with their future development plans and provide support in areas such as coach education and Clubmark accreditation. Clubmark accreditation informs parents of children involved with local sports clubs that their children are safe, secure and well cared for as demonstrated at Four Winds Equestrian Centre. The Clubmark accreditation will help the centre officially demonstrate its level of commitment to standards set by sporting national governing bodies and will further enhance their reputation within the local community.”
Four Winds Equitation is currently celebrating its 30th anniversary and what better way to mark the occasion than by being awarded Clubmark Status? The School is both BHS and ABRS approved and prides itself on providing lessons for all ages and abilities, working closely with local schools and organisations to provide opportunities to all local children.
Paula Leverton, proprietor of Four Winds, explains what makes them so successful: “We have a range of horses to teach all levels and encourage the pupils to compete in the regular shows we organise. This allows them to display the skills they are being taught. We also offer stable management either alongside, or independently of, riding.
“Four Winds also provides riding and stable management for a local school teaching children with learning difficulties. I am very proud of my staff for their commitment and assistance in achieving Clubmark status. I hope this will help me in my role of ABRS inspector to encourage other schools to work for this award too.”
