The East Midlands County Committees are supported by the Regional
Development Officer, who is a BHS employee.
Your Regional Development
Officer has two main objectives. The first is to recruit new BHS members and
look after the interests of existing members in the area. The second objective
is to highlight and implement the main aims of the BHS in Welfare, Access,
Safety and Training. |

As some of you may know, up until recently I have been the Regional Development Officer for the East of England and doing a job I love. However, I am a Midlands person at heart, having lived here for the majority of my life, and although saddened when I found out that Jo Smith was emigrating to New Zealand as I was losing a brilliant colleague, the opportunity to change to the East Midlands region was just too tempting an opportunity to miss! I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the East of England, and have been privileged to work with a very dedicated group of volunteers and members. The East Midlands membership growth has been excellent across the counties and an extremely strong team of committees has obviously been looking after their members exceptionally well. This just goes to show that the BHS could not operate without its volunteers and members, who are the backbone of the Society. I am looking forward to working with you all and helping in any way I can to ensure that the upward trend continues.
In the coming months I will hopefully be meeting more of you, attending meetings and visiting as many of our BHS Approved Centres and Colleges as possible, whilst trying not to get lost! I will be planning training for next year and exploring the possibility of attending more shows. Any suggestions or comments will be gratefully received.
My thanks go to Jo for all her help during the handover, which so far has gone very smoothly. If however, there are any problems that I do not appear to be aware of, please contact me so that we can get them ironed out as soon as possible. My contact details are below, and I will always be pleased to hear from you. I wish Jo and her husband the very best of luck and success in their new life in New Zealand
