RIDING & ROAD SAFETY REPORT Spring 2008 Just a reminder that our regions update for Examiners & Trainers must be attended bi-annually if you wish to stay on the BHS register. The next training date is 17 September 2008 at Fairview Farm, Bilsthorpe, Nottingham. Please contact me if you need further details. It is exciting to hear that the Riding & Road Safety Test is to become part of the National Qualification Framework. The accredited tests will be running from June 2008 once all our current examiners have been trained under the new system. The tests will run as normal until then. A new Highway Code was published in 2007 and I urge you to update yourselves. We sometimes get complacent and as most of us also drive motor vehicles it may well make sense to look again at a copy as I’m sure many of us haven’t looked at it since passing our driving or riding tests several years ago!!! And finally… With the evenings now drawing out please don’t be tempted to abandon your fluorescent & Hi Viz gear – both you and your horse are far too precious to take even the slightest chance… Happy Hacking! |
