Welcome to the East Midland Website

An important message from Ali the Webmaster
I am moving house on 17 June 2008 therefore
I will be offline for a couple of weeks while I get everything sorted
P please continue to send your news and events and I will get them onto the website as soon as I can

POTENTIAL HORSE THIEVES?
This message is been sent around by Derbyshire Horsewatch but is a warning to all horse owners in the East Midlands.
There have been 3 sightings of 2 suspicious men with Eastern European accents photographing local horses. They feel this could be a steal to order gang. The men have been seen at shows / events and even in a horse owner's field taking pictures.
They have been seen in a white van and a red Land Cruiser. Police are treating this as suspicious, so please contact them urgently if you see anything.

Error on Voting Paper for Election to Trustees
"There is an error on the Voting Paper included within the Annual Report and Accounts, which accompanied the latest edition of British Horse. In it our Regional Safety Officer in the North, David Roy KERRY, is shown as David Roy KELLY. Whereas I am sure all David's friends and contacts within the BHS would spot the error from the very first sentence of the accompanying biographical note, I would be grateful if you would bring this error to the attention of members with whom you come into contact."

Burghley Sponsored ride 2008
Sunday September 7th 2008
History
This will be the eighth ride held on the Sunday of the main horse trials, cumulative proceeds for equine charities is over £100,000. Numbers taking part have varied from 300 – 500 each year with riders and horses of all ages and abilities welcomed to come and take part.

Burghley Sponsored Ride The Ride
Riders gather and park in a specially allocated area of Burghley Park and are marshaled on the ride circuit in groups for the 10 – 12Km ride. The tracks take riders onto the cross country course which, just the day before, hosted some of the best eventers in the world in an international four star eventing competition. Riders can walk or trot around the fences and enjoy the experience of seeing the massive fences first hand from the back of their own horses! The ride then directs riders around the park on tracks not normally open to riders and also takes in a second section of the course. Those wishing to take part in ‘their Burghley’ have to pre register with the organizers who then send out sponsor forms and joining instructions plus free car parking two weeks beforehand. Anyone wishing to make the best of their visit can then pay the pedestrian entrance gate fee to browse the legendary 400+ trade stand tented city and enjoy the final show jumping phase of the event.
To Take Part
Write to Burghley Sponsored Ride (with an A5 SAE) for an application form at : Belmesthorpe Grange, Newstead Lane, Stamford, Lincs PE9 4JJ.The minimum sponsorship donation is £27 per rider and this needs to be sent in only with the official  application form and then get your sponsors signed up and friends to join you!
Summary
This is a great event for groups, clubs, yards or individuals. Open to all ages over 5 and the ride is suitable for all riding abilities. The ride will be making a donation to the BHS from part of the proceeds. Photographs, refreshments and toilets are all on site plus paramedic assistance.
